A Practical Wedding

Summer reading here at DJ-HQ is the super-awesome wedding blog A Practical Wedding. I love it. Just love it. Even the part about how to iPod your own wedding.

Why? because it's one of the few places where couples are being given permission (and really thoughtful, practical advice) to dig deep and think about what will make your wedding truly yours.

I love how it starts:
Hi, I’m Meg. I started this blog in 2008 after I came home crying one-too-many days in a row, in the early stages of planning our wedding. My husband told me to start a blog, and suggested I call it a PRACTICAL wedding. Not in a dogmatic way, but in a, “The-wedding-media-you-are-reading-is-crazy” way. So. Here we are.
I hear that crying story far too often from the brides I work with, and have tried in my own little ways to offer my own shelter from what Meg very aptly describes as "the horrible cultural dialog surrounding weddings." Meg has wisely harnessed the awesome power of thousands of smart, thoughtful women who have all gone or are currently going through the same complicated, wonderful, terrible, beautifully frightening process called getting married.

Their contributions and collective grace and wisdom make A Practical Wedding a kind of wedding dojo - full of great advice, discussions about budgets and traditions how-to-DIY, and future in-laws. and anything you've probably been wondering about.

I think you'll love it too!
